Product Pricing Calculator with Fees (Shopify/Amazon)

Meet Daniel. He runs a small online store selling handmade phone cases.

At first, he thought profit was simple:
“Selling Price – Cost = Profit.”

But when he listed on Shopify and later Amazon, the reality hit him. Each sale had hidden costs:

    • Transaction fees
    • Platform fees (Shopify plan or Amazon seller fees)
    • Shipping
    • Product cost

At the end of the month, his bank account showed far less than he expected.

That’s where the Product Pricing Calculator comes in — it shows the real profit, not just what looks good on paper.

    What Is This Calculator?

The Product Pricing Calculator helps sellers calculate true profit after all the costs are deducted.

    You enter:

    • Product Cost ($) – how much you pay to source/make it.
    • Selling Price ($) – the price you charge your customer.
    • Shipping Cost ($) – what you pay for delivery.
    • Transaction Fee (%) – platform fee per order (Shopify ~2.9% + 30¢, Amazon ~15%).
    • Shopify Plan / Amazon Cost – fixed or additional monthly/percentage charges.

And it gives you a clear pricing breakdown:

    • Revenue
    • Platform Fees
    • Transaction Fee
    • Shipping Cost
    • Product Cost
    • Final Profit

    Why Is This Important?

Because in e-commerce, many sellers underestimate fees.

    If you don’t calculate carefully:

    • You might think you’re profitable when you’re losing money.
    • You may price too low and hurt your margins.
    • You can’t scale confidently without knowing your true numbers.

This calculator takes the guesswork out — so you know exactly how much is left in your pocket after every sale.

    Formula

    Step 1: Revenue

    Revenue = Selling Price

    Step 2: Transaction Fee

Transaction Fee = (Selling Price × Transaction Fee %)

    Step 3: Total Costs

Total Costs = Product Cost + Shipping Cost + Transaction Fee + Platform Fees

    Step 4: Profit

Profit = Revenue – Total Costs

    Example

    Let’s say:

    • Product Cost = $10
    • Selling Price = $30
    • Shipping Cost = $5
    • Transaction Fee = 2.9% = 0.029
    • Platform Fee = $1 (approx. per sale, based on Shopify plan split)

    Step 1: Revenue = $30
    Step 2: Transaction Fee = $30 × 0.029 = $0.87
    Step 3: Total Costs = $10 + $5 + $0.87 + $1 = $16.87
    Step 4: Profit = $30 – $16.87 = $13.13

👉 Actual profit per sale = $13.13, not $20 as it seemed at first.

How the Calculator Works (Step by Step)

    1. Enter product cost – your sourcing/manufacturing price.
    2. Enter selling price – the price you charge the customer.
    3. Add shipping cost – what you pay for delivery.
    4. Select transaction fee (%) – depends on platform:
      • Shopify: 2.9% + 30¢ (basic plan)
      • Amazon: ~15% referral fee
    5. Enter platform plan cost – monthly plan split across sales or per-sale fee.
    6. Click calculate – the calculator instantly shows:
      • Revenue
      • Platform Fees
      • Transaction Fee
      • Shipping Cost
      • Product Cost
      • Profit
