How the Calculator Works

Step 1: Assign Grade Points
Most GPA systems assign numeric points to letter grades:

Step 2: Multiply by Course Credits
For each course:
Grade Points × Course Credits = Quality Points
Example: If you got an A (4.0) in a 3-credit course:
4.0 × 3 = 12 Quality Points
Step 3: Sum All Quality Points and Credits
- Total Quality Points: Add all grade points × credits.
- Total Credits: Add all course credits.
Step 4: Calculate GPA
GPA = Total Quality Points ÷ Total Credits
Example:
- Course 1: A (4.0) × 3 credits = 12
- Course 2: B+ (3.3) × 4 credits = 13.2
- Total Quality Points = 25.2
- Total Credits = 7
- GPA = 25.2 ÷ 7 ≈ 3.6
